I've had a nasty head cold since the middle of December. Its given me, at various times, ear infections in both ears and a throat infection. On Saturday night / early Sunday morning the ear infection in my right ear became excruciatingly painful. Even taking lots of the strongest pain killers in the house I was in agony, unable to sleep and tossing and turning in bed.
I'm not a hero when it comes to pain but I'm also not a complete wuss. I can stand my fare share. On Sunday morning though the pain reduced me to tears for the first time in many years. No matter what I did I couldn't relieve it at all. Sharon dragged me along to the local Open Surgery where the nurse told me I had a perforated ear drum and prescribed painkillers and antibiotics.
Copious amounts of the painkillers allowed me to get some sleep that night and to get through work yesterday (I had a client meeting which I couldn't put off). I was left feeling very tired and a little spaced out though.
Today my ear feels a little less painful but still uncomfortable and my hearing is a touch weird.
