Today I have...

...been mostly stressed to buggery. No particular reason.

At work we account for our time on timesheets so that the office manager can calculate how much to bill our clients. To date we have used weekly timesheets and I have tended to record just the time chargeable to our clients.

Last month was a poor billing month so we're going to try and improve our chargeability. To that end we've been asked to complete daily timesheets showing both chargeable and non-chargeable time.

Unfortunately, the way I have always worked has made it difficult to accurately record the non-chargeable time. I tend to flit from project to project and do small amounts of admin and technical reading as I go. At the end of the day I can tell how much chargeable time I've spent, and therefore how much non-chargeable time I've spent. I can't always say how the non-chargeable time was spent.

Daily timesheets and an accurate record of non-chargeable time will mean a change to the way I work. I will have to try to parcel my time into sections and concentrate on one activity at a time.

On top of the general stress I've been starting to feel, this enforced change to my working pattern made me feel very anxious this afternoon. Once I'd calmed down I realised that this will force me into a close monitoring of my own time. Hopefully this will result in an improved efficiency to my activities with benefits for both me and the company. So it's maybe not a bad thing. Though like most changes to engrained habits and behavioural patterns, I approach it with some trepidation.

When I got home, Sharon has obviously been hard at work today. The house is net and tidy and I'm not faced with some chore or task that needs completing everywhere I look. Consequently I've been able to relax and regroup my thoughts.

How are you now finding the daily timesheet?
I have just started working to a daily timesheet and am finding that it has increased the amount of time I spend doing the timesheet resulting in less time working.
Today, I had 19 different entries on my timesheet, each with 4 codes per entry to identify.

Actually, to start with I found them quite useful. It concentrated my mind on what I was spending my time on and I was able to rationalise and prioritise much better. My chargeability shot up.

I have spent more time completing timesheets and, when I'm very busy, sometimes find I've not recorded things too well as I've gone along. But it's not all bad.

Hate google? Jesus now there is an understatement. Lets start with adwords--- I've been trying for well over two months to try to set up an adwords account to no avail. Okay I'll admit I got suckered and actually bought chris carpenters google cash. My advise NEVER BUY ANYTHING FROM A google "sponsored link". carpenters system is a very poorly plagerized version of amoung other things the free google adwords learning centre. Well fine, I thought I'll do this like so many others seem to be doing by following googles own instructions. The instructions by google are more clear than carpenters and other thief, cheat, and lying con men and fraud artists, so clear in fact that you see how impossible it actually is to follow said instructions. It is not possible to pay without a credit card unless you are outside the U.S. Okay I tried to prepay in U.S. dollars from Europe--- forget that, my billing address must be in the country who's currency I wish to use. I tried to pay with a U.S. dollar account from a European bank--- again I was googled (read my ass is very sore!) Right then I put on my cast iron underwear sat down on a block of titanium and tried again. I contacted google by the method set by them to do so and waited a week then was basically told to bugger off though not in those words. I hate google! It is very clear to me nobody at google gives a damn and all they want is money without trying to provide a proper service or product. I can say since I've started trying to use the adwords system I have gained an invaluable education into internet con jobs, scams, and outright theft and as far as I am concerned google leads the pack in all three catagories. One can no longer be assured of open honest and upfront business dealings just because you have given your patronage to a recognized, established company. The fact is google promotes con jobs and con artists with its adwords and adsense programs and they are doing very well with it as they just posted record profits due almost entirely to adwords and adsense! Fortunately all things come to an end and so will google. One of my friends has become so pissed off with google he spends hours each day clicking adword and adsense ads to screw them up. As I understand it a thousand clicks on an adsense ad will make some poor bastard some bread and cost google. The other side of that coin is clicking constantly on things like chris carpenters "affiliate jackpot" adword "sponsored links" to cost him. I believe all dodgy spopnsored links should be clicked on thousands of times to make the cost of ripping people off much too high. I will never use google again as far as I am concerned it is a montrous rip off, give the smaller, newer, cleaner search engines a try and visit Scroogle.com it is an invaluable site that amoung other things scrapes the google source code. The thing is google doesn't like these guys telling people things they really need to know. I think that is the best reason you really need to know what scroogle has to tell you.Scroogle also gives you the top 100 results from google but with the source code scraped, and no advertisements, pop ups etc. Okay I'm gone for now but "I will be back". The thought has occured to me that with enough people and effort we could shut these jerkoffs down. Now with a modern day David and Goliath story like that could the second coming be far behind. Have a good one The googleHater
