Google's just plain weird

Sorry to go on about this, but Google, once the backbone of my internet life, has gone awry. Once again I'm nowhere to be found in the search results for "I Hate Google".

Jeremy Zawodny found he had constantly changing search results when he looked for his name. His explanation? That weblogs are being specifically downgraded in the search results by Google and this has not yet filtered through to all of Google's servers.

Seems logical enough. There's no doubting that Google will have to do something about the effect weblogs are having on search results.

When I read about the possibility of blogs being removed from the main Google Search Engines I started looking around.

It's always the things staring me in the face that I don't always get immediately! Maybe it's the same for everyone else!?!

I bought an update key from Movable Type. It costs just $20 US dollars and believe me it's an absolute bargain. It's now just 3 days that my postings have pinged their www.movabletype.org rolling updated blogs page and I've already received some 80 visits in just 72 hours. Just a thought.

Happily, Google as big and important as it is for traffic generating, isn't the be all and end all.

Sorry to be nosey, Aardvark. But looking thru your stats I noticed you've only had 1 Search Engine enquiry in the last 7 days.

My stats are back up since I resubmitted a few days ago to Google (and all the other engines) using:

This is a truly must use fabulous and simple basic free submission programme run by the Sitemeter stats people.

In 2 or 3 days time you'll have them stats back where they should be.

I can't show this, and it's just my hunch, yet I feel Google are quietly dropping blogs from the main Search Engine directory knowing that most bloggers won't (probably, oops) realise that resubmitting to Google again gets them right back high up in the rankings.

I mean I've had 45 Google enquiries so far today just on Faye Alibocus, Trinidad & Tobago's Miss Universe contestant for last night's contest!
