As Cleophas noted in the comments to my entry "Google's just plain weird", my Google referrals have dropped from 50 to 60 per day to just 1 in the last 7 days.
If this is being repeated across blogs as a whole then its clear the Google is implementing an anti-blog policy. To have done this with no publicity is, I think, appalling given the importance of Google results to the internet as a whole.
On the other hand, if this is being repeated across other blogs, then why isn't there a huge fuss being kicked up?
Maybe its just me.
Aardvark, not all bloggers register with search engines. Also, most bloggers don't seem much interested in the numbers chasing game.
When looking at the stats of super successful blog sites I've noticed how many find means other than Google to generate higher numbers: articles featuring them on Metablogs (eg 'Boing Boing'), forums, pinging MT's 'Recently Updated' page (also Weblogs...), writing say a small MT plug-in and placing it on MT Plug-In page, Blogroll links, making photos available copyright free thru www.iStockPhoto.com , being a featured blog in a national magazine (say the Guardian newspaper in UK) ...and a very long etc.
Hooking readers up with say 'Add Favourite' or 'Make Homepage' or 'Blogroll Me' automated buttons [re: my site] I've found can help too in a small way.
