Soooo, the big news today is that our house, along with 18,000 other people in the vicinity, has been without electricity for 10 hours.
The power went off last night at about 11pm, after spending 5 or 10 minutes at a very low voltage giving just dim lighting.
We managed a night without lighting without too many dramas. James was a touch fretful when he awoke in the middle of the night but thankfully I managed to calm him down and get him back to sleep.
According to the news on the radio this morning it could be Sunday evening before power is restored to everyone. 3 whole days! That's going to be a complete disaster with frozen food going off, no TV for the kids, no hot water for baths and no way to recharge my mobile phone. Aaargh!
Seriously, I feel for those for whom a lack of electricity is more than a minor inconvenience. The elderly, those with hoists or stairlifts, those who need electrical nebulisers or other aids.
