This morning at work we received a message in our email supposedly confirming our purchase of a domain name and hosting for a total of $79.85.
This email is a scam designed to infect PCs with a Trojan program (which can then be used to take control of a PC or to intercept confidential information).
The Trojan can either be delivered as part of the email (it's a HTML email and sometimes contains the code designed to remotely load files onto the PC) or can be delivered when you click on the link to the site it purports to be from (these sites are often hijacked to add in the same code as above). The email we received claimed to be from tekriter.com (link now safe), a website which had be compromised, but other emails have other links and some have false links which direct you to a different site.
Code Fish Spam Watch has a good page on this scam and a different version of the email is reproduced on Net-Integration Forums.
Te email is reproduced in full below for anyone searching for it's text....
