Mobile Disco

You may, or may not, know that I run a reasonably successful mobile disco and entertainment agency. This one-time hobby business has grown to become an essential part of our family income.

I DJ myself and book other discos on behalf of clients. Most of my work is in the South Staffordshire, West Midlands and Warwickshire regions although me and my DJs will travel across the country if required.

My mobile disco, aardvark.dj - the same name as the agency and the website, has built up quite a good reputation over the last few years (previous to that I was a partner in the Fourth Dimension Roadshow). It is that reputation that has brought me 3 hotel clients who book all of their mobile disco requirements through me.

I pride myself on the professional approach I bring to my work, both the mobile discos and the agency. It is an industry with many cowboys and a large number of people who wouldn't understand professionalism if it slapped them in the face. My approach therefore immediately sets me apart from the crowd and I know that it makes a big difference to my clients.

I have a small but dedicated stable of DJs and mobile discos to whom I provide a large proportion of their work. This has created a good working relationship; I'm loyal to them and they're quite loyal to me. They know that if I give them a low paying disco this week they'll be first in line for a well paying disco next week.

Over the last few years the amount of disco bookings generated has increased meaning that it is no longer possible for me to run the business on my own in my spare time. So now Sharon plays a large part. She takes disco bookings, creates contracts and deals with the pre-event side of things. I now mainly concentrate on nurturing our relationships with the hotels and issuing invoices etc.

In addition to providing mobile discos and music for weddings, corporate functions, Christmas parties and cabaret nights I can also source and supply magicians, children's entertainers, face painting, bouncy castles and bands.

It's great to see that something you enjoyed panned out into something beneficial. I'm hoping to get there some day with that whole flying thing I'm always talking about.
