Search Wars

MSN has a new search engine that is clearly aimed to be their Google beater. It's open for business but only as a beta version.

The BBC News site has a comparison of the 5 major players now: Google, Yahoo, MSN, Ask Jeeves and Amazon's A9.

The new MSN search has come in for a lot of stick for poor reliability, and gets it in the neck from the BBC review too. Can I just point out "IT'S STILL IN BETA PEOPLE!". Not that I'm an apologist or big fan of Microsoft but please, be fair. (The BBC review did note it as an aside but still commented on the site being down a few times.) If you're looking for 24 hour reliability, don't go using a beta product. It's that simple.
