Before the operation
It's just coming up to 5pm and we've been at the hospital for 3 hours. We've seen the surgeon who will be performing the operation and it looks almost certain that Sharon will have to stay in overnight. The operation will probably go ahead at 6:30 and as it gets closer Sharon is getting more nervous.
On top of all the normal fears associated with going under the knife, Sharon has a phobia of needles. We have explained this to the anaesthatist and she has agreed to allow me to accompany Sharon into the anaesthetic room and offered to put Sharon to sleep with gas before giving any injections
Now we just have to wait.
