I hate Northern Rock Loans cus Northern Rock Sucks!
I'm pissed off today so someone's gonna get a small taste of my displeasure.
Take a look at the picture below (click to see a biggie courtesy of Flickr). It's a screen grab from Northern Rock's online quote calculator. I need to borrow £5,000 and Northern RCock advertised a rate of 5.7% on their website. The online quote told me that the repayments would be £95. You see it? It's right there. £95 per month. This beat the quote from my bank by about £10 per month - £600 over the life of the loan. So I applied. With loan protection. Which the quote calculator told me would bring the repayments up to £115 per month.
The application form arrived yesterday. £106 per month repayments. £106! Without the loan protection (although it took about half an hour of reading through all the small print to work that bit out - there isn't even a quote for the loan protection).
The woman at Northern Rock I spoke to today said the APR on the website is just a "typical APR" and that the actual quote is dependent upon the details in the application. Well, that's what she said. What I heard was:
"We lied to you on the Northern Rock website and got you to apply for our loan under false pretences. That's a special rate; it's only for people we like and we don't like you!"
Well, you know what? Fuck you Northern Rock. Fuck you and the fucky, bug-eyed frog on your shitty, lying website. Your fucking crappy loan still works out very slightly cheaper than my bank's but you can stick it up your arrogant backside. At least my bank had the honesty to tell me right from the start what APR would apply to my loan and exactly how much I would be paying.

I've even created a whole new category on the site called "I hate...". Normal service may be resumed later. Then again, it may not. I'm still fucking pissed at NTL. Twatts.

Ever thought about thinking in advance and saving up?
Thanks for the warning - I agree with you - after having to go through 30 minutes of questions - they checked my credit rating and came up with a totally different figure. He said 66% of people get the 5.6%, which inferred that I was a bad risk. I have a perfect history of paying things off, so asked why it was different, and he couldn't tell me.
Northern Shite Rock. Shittest of the fucking shit
I have recently taken out a loan with Northern Rock. I am really pissed off with them - they charge £45 for a CHAPS sameday transfer. But 1). This is a rip off, I deal with a company who only charges me £7 for CHAPS normally. 2). I did not ask for it. 3). I did not need it. 4). They were really rude on the phone to me. 5). Now im going to the regulator, there profits are up this year - because they rip their customers off with hidden charges - this is a fact. I don't think the regulator will accept their story and they will have to change their bad practices.
I do not agree with you people and what kind of language is this? Are you blind on the website by TYPICAL APR or simply you have no brain? The rate depends on your individual circumastances meaning your credit score so if you have limited or no credit history or if you lived at your adress for a short time and the same goes for your job then you prob won't get the lowest rate! You don't have to be a genious to figure that out!!! Read carefuly before you go ahead and apply for something you haven't understood.

Do you know anyone at all that has applied for a loan and been offered the "Typical" APR? Huh? I don't.
How "typical" can it be when it isn't offered to anyone?
Yes I agree, we do rip people off,you should hear how many complaints we get every day about our misselling of our products.
Then theres our computer system that are never all working, and of course it takes us weeks to get the loan paperwork out - as we only employee school leaver dropouts at our headquarters in Gosforth....
