I do think you can be over-protective of your children. They learn valuable lessons through accidents and injuries. The trick is to avoid anything serious. Wrapping them up in cotton wool is only going to lead to bigger problems when they're older.
No I am afraid not! I too ended in the ER and I dont consider the Thudguard product as being over protective at all. Quite the opposite, I think the hat is a great way of reducing the risk. Like the website says, falling onto their hands and knees will remind them that falling hurts but who wants to end up at the emergency room with a child screaming with a split head?
