Chasetown Football Club Secure a First Round Replay

I watched the Chasetown v Oldham match on the BBC this afternoon.. It was a fantastic football match. Chasetown held Oldham to a 1-1 draw, a fantastic feat for the club 133 places and 6 divisions lower than its opposition.

The following extracts reflect the magnitude of what was achieved.

From Life Style Extra:
FA Cup minnows Chasetown battled to an heroic draw against a team of professionals seven divisions above them.
The Midland Alliance side - which includes carpet fitters, road workers and a teacher - pulled off one of the best results in the tournament's history by holding Oldham Athletic to a 1-1 draw.

Update - More Reports:

From ShropshireStar.com:
Shropshire’s FA Cup heroes were today basking in the national plaudits after extending tiny Chasetown’s amazing adventure.

From 4thgame.com:
'So where's all this so called up magic gone?' we were all asking on Sunday morning. Dispirited and downbeat, we glanced at the days fixtures and were dispirited by a group of games which promised very little. Luckily the BBC's cameras were on hand to capture just how wrong we were for posterity as Leamington's Midland Alliance rivals Chasetown secured an impressive 1-1 draw with League One side Oldham. It may not have been the biggest shock of the round, but it was certainly the most high profile and arguably the most impressive.

From expressandstar.com:
Chasetown boss Charlie Blakemore said his side played the better football in their 1-1 draw with Oldham. Blakemore's side frequently outpassed opponents seven leagues above them in front of the Match of the Day cameras.

Aha! The Burntwood Blogger. Where've you been. Your blog disappeared......

I've been a fan of Blyth Spartans since I was 12. I met some of your lads at the 1st match. Great blokes. I was with my little boy and girl, walking around and around..someone may remember me.. Congrats against Oldham. Good luck.
CHASETOWN FOR THE CUP!

Good luck to Chasetown in the reply, I'll be there watching and willing for a Chasetown winner........and I'm an Oldham Athletic season ticket holder (seriously).
